While desktop and laptop ad spending declines, mobile advertising grows faster than expected. eMarketer predicts that mobile ad spending will increase to 56% ($14.97 billion) in the next year; by 2016, representing $35.62 billion in ad spending overtaking desktop’s 27.21 billion.
Within mobile ad spend, we will see advertisers budget more dollars to target smartphones and tablets. Mobile search advertising should increase 118.8% in 2013; mobile banner ad spend to 155.22%. With consumers using mobile devices more and more for search and shopping, mobile growth is not a future trend: it is now.
