“I am very excited to lead this wonderful group of volunteer business leaders in our community,” says Michael Boyer, President of the Pismo Beach Rotary Club, “We’ll focus on our $15,000 annual charity contributions, International service projects as well as our 20+ community improvement programs.”
Boyer, a legacy Rotarian (his father and uncles served their communities as well), assumes the helm of one of three Rotary Clubs in South San Luis Obispo County. The Pismo Beach/Five Cities Rotary membership of 55 business leaders sponsors over 20 projects that benefit the local community and the world. Of the many programs they sponsor, some of their annual events include Youth Soccer tournaments, ethics education programs and a Christmas party for families in need.
Boyer was raised in Wasilla, AK and studied Speech Communications and Finance at the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR. He his an active community member in San Luis Obispo County and lives in Arroyo Grande, CA with his wife and son. Boyer serves on the Board of the Exploration Station, enjoys league basketball and volleyball and volunteers his time with many other community non-profit organizations.
Currently serving as CEO for AdSmart, a mobile advertising platform for franchise companies, Boyer has had a very successful 20-year career in the tech industry. His focus is marketing product development and growth and solution creation for companies he works with. Prior to AdSmart, Boyer served as COO of ElementsLocal (acquired by Bridgeline Digital, Inc. in 2013). ElementsLocal developed software solutions for franchise companies such as Jiffy Lube, Maaco, Paul Davis Restoratioin, Sport Clips, and UPS Stores. Boyer began his career in the Central Coast as the VP of Operations for Web Associates (later acquired by Rosetta). At Web Associates, he was the driving force in the turnaround of the company, growing from a 500K loss to a $5 million profit. The company also expanded their local software and website solutions to enterprise software solutions for companies such as Apple, HP, Oakley, Quicksilver and VISA International.
This past February, Boyer received his Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) designation at the 2014 International Franchise Association (IFA) Convention in New Orleans, LA. The Institute of Certified Franchise Executives awards the CFE certification to executives who complete the ICFE program and then pass a mandatory final CFE exam.
In 2006 and 2007, both the Economic Vitality Corporation of San Luis Obispo County and the Pacific Coast Business Times recognized Boyer with their “Top 20 Under 40” Award for professional excellence and commitment to community.
